Picture lights are a great choice for showing off fine art. Place a picture light above or below your wall art to add light and drama. You can also use picture lights to illuminate architectural room details or sculptures. For more general room lighting of artwork, you may be able to utilize a wall sconce. In most cases you'll want to point the sconce so the light washes up towards the ceiling. For both picture lights and wall lights, it is important to choose lighting that matches the style and the size of the wall art you're highlighting. Most picture light designs can be used on both traditional or contemporary style art. However, certain finishes, like brass, have a more traditional feel and may be a better fit for traditional wall art landscape or still lives.
